“Spain as a Gateway to Latin America and North Africa” Training Programme for Entrepreneurs of the Podlaska Regional Development Foundation

Tedalian Enterprise Services was invited by the Podlaska Regional Development Foundation to deliver a specialised training programme on business internationalisation strategies, focusing on the use of Spain as a regional business hub for expansion into Latin American and North African markets.

The objective of the training was to present practical opportunities for developing international sales by using Spain as an operational, logistics and commercial hub. Tedalian’s expert discussed both the potential of the Spanish market itself and Spain’s role as a natural gateway to markets representing more than 800 million consumers across Latin America and North Africa. The programme combined current economic data, experience gained through projects delivered by Tedalian and practical examples of internationalisation strategies implemented by companies from different sectors.

During the training, participants explored the key competitive strengths of the Spanish economy, including its highly developed logistics infrastructure, strong economic ties with Spanish-speaking countries, extensive network of seaports and the high degree of internationalisation of Spanish businesses. The programme also examined Spain’s role as a European coordination centre for the international operations of numerous multinational companies and the advantages of using Spanish business structures as a platform for further expansion beyond the European Union.

A significant part of the training focused on developing effective international market entry strategies. Participants were introduced to different expansion models, including cooperation with local distributors, establishing proprietary sales structures, working with commercial agents, and setting up representative offices and subsidiaries. The programme also covered practical methods for assessing prospective business partners, building B2B customer databases, conducting sales prospecting, organising business meetings and effectively developing distribution networks across Spanish-speaking markets.

Another important area of the programme addressed the practical aspects of establishing and conducting business operations in Spain. Participants were introduced to procedures for company incorporation and establishing permanent business structures, as well as the tax, legal and administrative requirements associated with developing export activities. The training also covered obligations arising from Spanish Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, including producer registration, obtaining the necessary identification numbers and securing the digital certificates required to interact with Spanish public authorities.

The programme also addressed the practical aspects of conducting commercial negotiations with Spanish business partners. Participants explored cultural differences, relationship-building practices, business etiquette, decision-making processes and some of the most common mistakes made by foreign exporters. They received practical recommendations on preparing for negotiations, communicating effectively with commercial partners and developing sustainable, long-term business relationships.

The training additionally covered international logistics, e-commerce, export transaction security, the use of business intelligence and credit information services, and the assessment of risks associated with cooperation with foreign counterparties. Participants were also introduced to opportunities for using Spain as a distribution hub for exports to Latin America and North Africa, with particular attention given to key industries and markets offering attractive growth potential.
